Senior Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) recorded 23 points and 10 rebounds, junior Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) scored her 1,000th career point, and Gettysburg knocked off unbeaten and 12th-ranked Muhlenberg 67-62 in Centennial Conference women's basketball action inside Memorial Hall Thursday night.

In a rematch of last season's conference championship game, Gettysburg (11-2, 7-1 CC) secured its fifth victory over a nationally-ranked Muhlenberg (13-1, 8-1 CC) team since 2010. Muhlenberg, which came into the contest having tied the program records for consecutive wins and the best start to a season, was ranked 12th by D3hoops.com and 15th by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
 
Gibbons produced another big effort at Muhlenberg's expense, recording her fifth double-double of the season and the 32nd of her career. She finished 10-of-22 from the floor and six of her caroms came on the offensive end. The senior forward has posted double-double efforts in four of the last five meetings against the Mules.

Dorshimer added 14 points with a layup late in the second quarter pushing her past 1,000. She is the 16th Bullet to reach the milestone and just the fifth to do so during her junior campaign, following in the footsteps of Gibbons last season.

Senior Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) added 11points, five assists and three steals for Gettysburg, while freshman Meredith Brown (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) held her own against Muhlenberg's veteran front line with nine points and 10 boards.
 
Rachel Plotke paced Muhlenberg with 18 points and Brandi Vallely added a dozen points and seven assists.
 
Coming off its first conference loss to Haverford College on Tuesday, the Bullets came out firing with nine-straight points after the opening tip. Meredith canned a three-pointer and converted a lay-up off her own steal, while Gibbons knocked down a pair of jumpers. Gettysburg's lead reached as much as 14 in the opening period before settling at 18-9 heading into the second quarter.
 
The teams reversed trends in the opening quarter as Muhlenberg locked down the Bullets defensively and whittled away at the deficit. Following Dorshimer's milestone lay-up with 3:51 left in the period, the Mules ended the half on an 8-0 run with a three-pointer by Plotke sending the hosts into the break with a 30-27 advantage.
 
The hosts padded the lead in the first five minutes of the third quarter and jumped ahead 40-31 on a jumper by Chelsea Gary. Muhlenberg did not score a point for the next six minutes and watched Gettysburg claw its way back into a tie with a nine-point spurt. A steal and lay-up by Gibbons was followed by a pair of free throws by Dorshimer to send the teams into the final period locked 40-40.
 
The fourth quarter featured six ties as the two sides traded blows. Gettysburg seized the upper-hand when Brown ripped down an offensive board and scored a lay-up which made it 58-56 with 3:07 to play. The Mules didn't let the margin grow beyond a possession until the final minute when a lay-up by Dorshimer and back-to-back free throws by sophomore Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) made it 64-59 with 18 seconds left.
 
An old-fashioned three-point play by Emilie Benton pulled the hosts within two (64-62) with nine seconds left. After hitting a free throw, Dorshimer came up with the big defensive play by blocking Plotke's game-tying three-point attempt and Meredith knocked down the final two free throws to seal the victory.
 
Gettysburg finished 25-of-63 (39.7 percent) from the floor, won the rebounding battle 41-33, and out-scored Muhlenberg 30-12 in the paint. The Mules shot 20-of-55 (36.4 percent) from the field.
