ARLINGTON, Va. - In a battle of the last two unbeatens in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC), the Marymount women's basketball team, sophomore Regan Lohr totaled 18 points and six rebounds while going 13-of-14 from the free throw line as the Saints knocked off No. 6 Christopher Newport, 77-67 Saturday at Verizon Sports Arena.

With the win, Marymount (11-2, 6-0 CAC) increased its home winning streak to 12 which equals the 2013-14 team who went 15-2 at home and won 12-straight to finish the season.

The Saints have now won six of the nine meetings against the Captains since they joined the CAC prior to the 2013-14 season.

Lohr totaled 16 of her 18 points in the second half where she was 11-of-12 from the free throw line. As a team, Marymount was 18-of-24 from the line in the fourth quarter.

Junior Tyffani McQueen finished with 18 points, five rebounds and a career-high seven steals, tying the mark she set against York (Pa.) in a 60-55 win at home on Feb. 11, 2017. Meanwhile, after being held to just four points and without a rebound in the first half, senior Nicole Viscuso totaled nine points and seven rebounds in the second to finish with 13 points and seven rebounds. She also added three steals.

Marymount had 15 steals, the sixth time this season the team has had at least that many, while totaling 26 points off turnovers.

Senior Leah Hurst was the fourth Saint in double figures with 12 points.

Marymount led for most of the game, jumping out to a 16-6 lead in the first seven minutes. The Saints stretch their lead to as many as 16 with 6:21 left in the second quarter, 32-16. Over the game's first 14-plus minutes, Marymount was 13-of-21 from the floor for 61.9 percent while Christopher Newport was just 6-for-18 for 33.3 percent. The Saints also held a 15-6 edge in rebounds while scoring 26 points in the paint and 10 off turnovers.

However, the defending CAC champions used an 18-2 run over the next 3:47 to tie the game at 34-34 before a lay-up by McQueen gave Marymount a 36-34 halftime lead. The Captains got 13 of their 22 second-quarter points off the bench.

Led by Lohr who scored eight points and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line, the Saints pushed their lead back to seven with 18 seconds remaining in the third.

In the fourth, Christopher Newport (11-2, 5-1 CAC) could not get any closer than three as Marymount was able to keep them at bay, scoring 18 of its 24 points from the free throw line, finishing the second half 24-of-32 from the charity stripe.

Marymount will hit the road for a quick trip to Wesley on Wednesday before beginning a four-game homestand next Saturday, January 13 against Mary Washington.
