Tommie women roll to ninth win of season

Junior center Hannah Spaulding finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds in only 15 minutes of play as No. 14-ranked St. Thomas pulled away for an 83-51 women's basketball victory over Lake Forest Saturday on a neutral court in Wisconsin Dells.

The Tommies (9-2), who led 50-20 at halftime, used an early 14-0 run to build a 17-3 lead. They shot 49 percent from the floor and helped hold the Foresters (4-6) to 29 percent shooting. The Toms had only nine turnovers and posted a 46-24 advantage in rebounds.

Freshman Kaia Porter scored a collegiate-best 14 points, and Elsa Anderson added 10 points and nine rebouunds. Spaulding has scored in double figures in all 11 games, including three double doubles in points and rebounds.

MIAC co-leader St. Thomas is scheduled to play nine January games starting Wednesday night at home against Macalester.
