Rochester, NY – The Nazareth women's basketball team put together is best shooting performance of the season Saturday, hitting on nearly 50 percent of its shots (30-for-61), to snap a four-game losing streak with a 73-47 victory over Fredonia.  It was the Golden Flyers highest point total of the season as Samantha Peebles (19 points), Lizzie Straub (15 points) and Rachel Benedict (13 points) each scored in double figures.

Nazareth improves to 3-5 overall with the victory, while Fredonia drops to 4-7.

Trailing 13-12 heading into the second quarter, Nazareth outscored the Blue Devils 23-8 to build a comfortable 35-21 lead.

Nazareth, which finished 12-of-26 (46.2 percent) from 3-point range in the contest, scored its first 18 points from downtown.  Early in the second quarter, Peebles dialed in her second 3-pointer to give Nazareth an 18-15 lead, one it would not relinquish the rest of the game.  She also had a game-high five assists.

Straub had 10 of her season-best 15 points in the opening half after starting 4-of-6 from the floor.  The Golden Flyers 20-6 run to end the half brought their lead to 35-21 at the break.

Nazareth controlled the tempo in the second half, building its lead to as many as 33, following a layup from Demetria Woodard to make it 70-37 with under three minutes to play.

Kristen Simmons had six points (2-for-5) and three assists for the Golden Flyres.  Erica Bradley chipped in five points, while Isabella Gjonaj ripped down five rebounds.

Nazareth begins conference play on Tuesday, traveling to Sage for an 8 p.m. showdown.
