#16 DePauw Shoots Season-High 55 Percent in Win at Wooster

Wooster, Ohio - DePauw, ranked 15th in the latest coaches' poll and 16th by D3hoops.com, shot 69 percent in the first half in building a 42-point halftime margin on the way to an 83-43 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Wooster. The Tigers improved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots dropped to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

The Tigers never trailed in the contest and during a stretch of the opening period made nine consecutive field goal tries to move a 1-point lead to 18 with a 19-2 run that made it 23-5. DePauw held its largest lead of the quarter at 26-7 and that's how it stayed as the teams headed to the second.

A 15-0 stretch in the second pushed DePauw's lead to 46-9 with 4:04 left in the half and the margin reached as much as 44 before DePauw took a 57-15 lead into the intermission.

Wooster outscored the Tigers in the third after starting on an 8-0 run and holding the Tigers without a field goal for the opening 3:14 of the period. DePauw led 68-33 after three and the hosts got no closer as DePauw scored the first seven points of the final quarter.

Sydney Kopp paced DePauw with 18 points, while Emily Budde added 15 and Claire Keefe 14. Kylie Morris grabbed 11 rebounds including five on the offensive glass as the Tigers held a 37-24 edge on the boards. Maya Howard notched career highs with eight assists and five steals.

Akwia Tilton paced Wooster with 13 points, while Erica Roberts hauled down five rebounds and Anna Gibbs handed out three assists.

DePauw shot a season-best 54.7 percent from the floor and hit 8 of 14 from three-point range, while Wooster shot 36.7 percent. 

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, December 20, against Williams College in the D3 St. Pete Classic in St. Petersburg, Fla.
