Big Blue Women’s Basketball Suffers Road Loss

          The Millikin women's basketball team lost at North Park University 67-61 on December 6 in Chicago.

          Millikin lead after the first quarter 11-10.  The Vikings rallied in the second quarter and lead 32-25 at halftime.  Millikin outscored the Vikings by one in the third quarter and each team scored 17 points in the fourth quarter.  Millikin pulled to within three points with 31 seconds left on two Devin Curry free throws to make it a 62-59 Viking advantage.  North Park's Gabby Sandoval connected on three straight free throws and Zakiya Newsome added two more to keep the Big Blue from getting any closer.

          Millikin shot 34 percent from the field while the Vikings connected on 44 percent. 

Millikin won the rebounding battle 43-29, but committed 22 turnovers to North Park's 17.

          Curry and freshman Jordan Hildebrand each had 17 points for Millikin.  Hildebrand had her first career double double with 11 rebounds.  Hildebrand had career highs in both points and rebounds.  Cassie Somers added 15 points for Millikin.

          Sandoval led North Park with 20 points.

          Millikin is now 3-3, 0-2 while North Park goes to 5-1, 2-0.

          The Big Blue will host Carroll University on Saturday at 5 p.m.
