WELLESLEY, Mass.--Senior Brenna LeGacy (Attleboro, Mass.) led the way with 16 points, while Junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards as the Babson College women's basketball team defeated Wellesley, 67-55, on Wednesday night inside the Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.

With its 14th straight conference road win, Babson improves to 5-2 over and 3-0 in league play, while Wellesley falls to 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in the NEWMAC.

LeGacy went 6-of-10 from the floor, while Ouimette connected on 5-of-8 shots, scoring eight points in the final two quarters. Junior Tea Spellacy (Belchertown, Mass.) chipped in with nine points, and senior Bianca Tomassini (North Brandford, Conn.) added seven points and five rebounds in the win. Ouimette and junior Katherine Tamulionis(Foxboro, Mass.) tied for game-high honors with five assists apiece.

First-year Lane Arkangel (Redondo Beach, Calif.) scored a team-high 16 points for the Blue, sophomore Caitlin Aguirre (El Paso, Texas) posted eight points, and first-year Alyssa Cho (Hillsborough, Calif.) added six points and led the team with 10 rebounds.

Trailing 11-9 midway through the first quarter, the Green and White seized command of the game with a 14-0 run. Five different players scored during the spurt, which included three-pointers by Tamulionis and first-year Hailey Reynolds (Ramsey, N.J.), to give the Beavers a 23-11 edge less than a minute into the second quarter. Spellacy scored seven of the next nine points and Babson led by as many as 15 before taking a 34-21 advantage into the locker room. 

The Beavers shot just 30 percent from the field and were 7-of-13 from the free throw line, but never saw their lead dip below 12 in a foul-plagued third quarter. Five straight points by LeGacy and a pair of free throws from Ouimette capped a 7-0 burst that gave the Green and White its biggest lead of the night at 54-35 with 8:04 to go in the fourth quarter. Wellesley, which scored nine points off of turnovers in the stanza, got as close as 12 on an Arkangel layup with 3:14 remaining, but a free throw by Tamulionis and consecutive jumpers by Tomassini extended the margin back to 65-50 in the final minute. 

Babson shot 42.3 percent from the floor and went 20-of-28 (71.4 percent) at the free throw line. The Beavers also turned 28 Blue turnovers into 23 points and finished with a 36-34 edge on the glass. 

Wellesley shot 42.1 percent and held a 36-30 advantage in paint scoring. 

Babson returns to action on December 18 when it hosts Bates at 2 p.m., while the Blue heads to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a 3 p.m. game against Bridgewater State in the Land of Magic Classic on December 28.
