ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Keuka outscored Nazareth 37-27 in the second half Saturday to pull away from Nazareth for a 61-51 women's basketball victory in a non-conference game at the Kidera Gymnasium.

Keuka improved to 2-0 overall, while Nazareth dropped to 1-1. The game was played as a benefit for the Heritage Christian Services Employment Alliance, which provides job development, placement and job coaching on a complimentary basis to people who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Marisa Geitner, President and CEO of HCS, and Lisa Formicola, Pittsford Brach Manager for Tompkins Bank of Castile, were the event's honorary co-chairs.

The game was tied 24-24 at halftime as Nazareth erased a seven-point deficit by closing the half on a 9-2 scoring run. Senior Samantha Peebles (20 points) hit a three-pointer and then scored just before the half expired to help Nazareth even the score. Freshman Elizabeth White also had a pair of baskets.

The Wolves took control in the third quarter by outscoring Nazareth 22-13, including a 15-6 run over the last 5:42 of the quarter, to carry a 46-37 lead into the last 10 minutes. Three different Keuka players made three-point baskets during the decisive scoring run -- game MVP Reighly Melochick, Arianna DeNault and Riley Record.

Nazareth desperately tried to come back in the fourth quarter, but the Flyers were plagued by poor shooting for most of the game. They closed to within six points, 51-45, on a pair of free throws by White with 5:20 left, but Keuka used a 7-1 to take its largest lead at 58-46 with less than two minutes to play. Nazareth went 17-for-62 from the floor (27.4 percent), including just 3-for-20 from three-point range (15 percent). Keuka also had a 47-37 rebounding edge.

Keuka made 10 three-pointers in 19 attempts and got 19 points and seven rebounds from Melochick, who made four three-pointers. Lauren Anten added 11 points. Peebles led all rebounders with 10.
