Hartford, Conn. – First-year forward Gabrielle Rogers (Raleigh, N.C.) had a game-high 11 points and five rebounds to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 58-25 victory over the visiting Bard College Raptors in women's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity, which jumped to an 18-2 lead after the first quarter, improves to 4-0, while the Raptors fall to 0-4.
Trinity scored the game's first 16 points and did not allow a field goal until 1:55 into the second quarter. Rogers made three of five attempts from long range, after not attempting a three-pointer in the season's first three games, and the Bantam defense held the Raptors to just nine field goals in 46 attempts for a 19.6 percent field-goal percentage. Trinity also outrebounded Bard, 51-24, and forced 20 turnovers. Senior Alex Norgaisse (Haverhill, Mass.) added nine points and 11 rebounds, while first-year Kate Settelmeyer (Marblehead, Mass.) scored nine points, and junior Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) added eight points for the Bantams.
Sophomore guard Caleigh DeCaprio (Islip, N.Y.) paced the Raptors with eight points and added four rebounds and four steals. Bard rookie Katie Esposito (Hamden, Conn.) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds, and junior Sarah Morris (Newport, R.I.) had six points and six rebounds.
