BABSON PARK, Mass.—First-year Casey Walsh (Phoenixville, Pa.) scored a game-high 17 points and visiting Connecticut College shot 51.8 percent from the floor on its way to defeating Babson College, 73-62, in non-conference women's basketball action on Sunday afternoon at Staake Gymnasium.

With the loss, Babson falls to 2-1 on the year, while Connecticut College improves to 3-1 overall.

Junior Tea Spellacy (Belchertown, Mass.) finished with 14 points and four steals, while classmate Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mass.) added 11 points and three assists for the Beavers. Sophomore Emily Bonifacic(Allendale, N.J.) scored 10 points and junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) chipped in with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Senior Mairead Hynes (Mahopac, N.Y.) scored 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds, while sophomore Nancy Coulverson (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) added 11 points and seven boards for the Camels.

The Green and White recovered from a 1-of-13 start from the floor to take a 17-16 lead on a three-pointer by first-year Nicole Hiller(Rocky Hill, Conn.) late in the first quarter ,only to see Connecticut College run off seven straight points, including five by Coulverson, to take a 23-17 edge after 10 minutes.

The Beavers opened the second period with a 9-2 burst and regained a 26-25 advantage on a layup by senior Brenna LeGacy(Attleboro, Mass.) at the 6:01 mark. The final four minutes of the stanza featured four ties before a free throw by Coulverson with 1:01 left gave the Camels a 36-35 lead at the break.

Babson took its final lead of the game at 40-38 on a jumper by Spellacy less than two minutes into the third quarter. Hynes, who scored six points in the frame, tied the game on the next possession, and Connecticut College carried a 51-47 edge into the fourth.

The Beavers trailed by as many as seven early in the final stanza, but pulled within 58-54 after Spellacy turned a steal into a three-point play with 5:35 left. Back-to-back hoops by juniors Caroline Pangallo (Fairfield, Conn.) and Kylie Caouette (Ashburnham, Mass.) extended the Camels' lead to 67-56 with 2:31 remaining, and Caoutte followed a bucket by Ouimette with a three-pointer from the right corner to give Connecticut College its biggest advantage of the night at 70-58 with 1:45 to go.

The Green and White, which shot just 31.2 percent, finished with a 46-41 edge on the glass and scored 17 points off of turnovers. The Camels outscored the Beavers 38-36 in the paint.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday as Babson hosts Wheaton in its conference opener at 7 p.m., while Connecticut College takes on Worcester State at 7:30 p.m.
