Tigers Hold of Pioneers

LOS ANGELESShariah Green led three Oxy players in double figures as the Tigers held off Lewis & Clark with a 61-55 win in the Caltech-Occidental Classic at Rush Gym on Friday.

Green, a 6-foot-2 sophomore from Hillsboro, Ore., had a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds. She's off to a red-hot start to the season, averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds through three games. 

Alyssa Ramlochan had a pair of huge three pointers in the fourth quarter to help fend off the Pioneers and Tala Ismail essentially iced the game with a third.

After Grace Baranowski got an offensive rebound, Emily Leonard kicked the ball out to Ismail above the elbow area where her 3-pointer extended Oxy's lead to 10 points at 55-45 with 3:45 to play. Oxy didn't need to score again until the Pioneers were forced to foul with 1 minute left to play. 

Ismail finished the game with 10 points, four rebounds and two assits. 

Triana Anderson scored nine of her 11 points in the first half to put Oxy up 31-24.

Oxy's Dru Ishibashi scored seven points off the bench and Baranowski chipped in four.

Leonard had four points, four steals, three assists and seven rebounds. 

Miyah Leith scored a game-high 16 points for Lewis & Clark. 

Alyx Crager scored 12 points for the Pioneers, including three 3-pointers in the third quarter that all but erased Oxy's 31-24 halftime lead. 

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 3-0.

Lewis & Clark falls to 3-2.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action against Augsburg at Caltech on Saturday at 1 p.m.
