Lakers Defeated in Ziel Tournament Title Game

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team was unable to capture the Max Ziel Tournament title with a 53-40 loss to Elmira College in the championship bout on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Oswego drops to 1-2 on the season while the Soaring Eagles remain unbeaten at 3-0.

Following the contest, Laker center Rachael Windhausen was named to the All-Tournament Team. Joining the junior on the All-Tournament Team were Elmira's Rachel Vespucci and tournament most valuable player Danielle Cleary, Keystone College's Bre Moore and Medgar Evers College's Malecka Davis.

Windhausen led all Laker scorers on Saturday with nine points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field. She was just one-point shy of a double-double as she grabbed 11 rebounds on the afternoon. Pacing Oswego on the boards was senior Zana Dillard, who recorded a game-high 13 rebounds on the day.

Next in the point's column was Erin Gantley, tallying eight for a new career-high while Quincey Zimmerman and Courtney Ameele each added seven.

Oswego registered 11 assists as a team, with Gantley and Dillard accounting for more than half as they split six helpers evenly.

On defense, Zimmerman, Windhausen, Dillard and Sarah Feminella each swatted one Elmira shot attempt.

Next, the Lakers embark on a four-game road trip, starting with a journey to Rochester, N.Y. at 5 p.m. on Tuesday to face the Nazareth College Golden Flyers.
