WESTMINSTER, Md. – Junior Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) recorded the first 30-point, 20-rebound performance in program history and helped Gettysburg College secure a 60-55 victory at McDaniel College Wednesday night.
 
Gibbons needed one more double-double to tie the Centennial Conference record for consecutive games with a double-double and she took care of that stat by halftime on the way to her 12th-straight and 20th overall on the season. The junior never settled and with Gettysburg (17-7, 13-6 CC) trailing 48-46 with 6:26 left, she had a hand in her team's final 14 points, including scoring each of the last eight. Gibbons finished 13-of-21 from the floor on the way to a career-high 30 points. She finished one shy of her personal best for rebounds with 21.
 
Sophomore Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) tallied 15 points and four assists, while junior Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) posted seven points and eight assists. Freshman Emma Hahner (Forest Hill, Md.//C. Milton Wright) added seven points and four boards.
 
Jasmine Smith led McDaniel (11-13, 9-10 CC) with a dozen points, including a three-pointer to cut the deficit to three (58-55) with 16 seconds left. Karli Zeps turned in 10 points and eight rebounds for the Green Terror.
 
Gibbons was dominant in the early going, netting 10 points in the first quarter as Gettysburg busted out to a 21-17 lead. The advantage didn't last long with McDaniel turning in the first seven points of the second period and taking a 24-21 lead on a three-pointer by Halle Burgess.
 
The Bullets managed just five points in the second quarter as the Green Terror took a 30-26 lead into halftime.
 
In the third period, the visitors chipped away at the deficit until back-to-back threes by Hahner and Dorshimer put Gettysburg back in front 37-36 with 3:45 left. The Bullets maintained the lead for the remainder frame until Smith nailed a corner three-pointer to put her team back in front 42-41 heading into the fourth quarter.
 
A lay-up by Zeps kept McDaniel in front 48-46 with 6:26 to go, but the Green Terror had no answer for Gibbons down the stretch. Each time McDaniel took the lead, Gibbons provided the answer for the Bullets, eventually tying the game 52-52 on a jumper in front of the rim with 3:18 to play. After a turnover by the hosts, Gibbons drew a double team and found an open Hahner near the rim for another bucket. The junior dropped in two more lay-ups to put Gettysburg in front 58-52 with 53 seconds left.
 
A turnover on the in-bounds handed the ball back to the Green Terror and Smith made things interesting with a three-pointer from the top of the key. Gibbons knocked down two free throws inside the final 13 seconds to close the scoring.
 
Gettysburg finished 24-of-44 (54.5 percent) from the floor and out-rebounded McDaniel 39-26. The Green Terror finished 24-of-66 (36.4 percent) from the field.
 
Already assured a spot in the conference playoffs, Gettysburg closes the regular season at home against Ursinus College (13-11, 11-8 CC) this Saturday at 4 p.m. The Bears need a victory to earn a bid to the postseason.
