MADISON, WI - The Benedictine University women's basketball team scored the first six points and led the entire way en route to a road victory over Edgewood.

THE DETAILS
Alena Moro scored on an offensive rebound in the first minute of the game before consecutive baskets from D'Asia Williams enabled Benedictine to open an early 6-0 lead
Payton Sim connected on a three-pointer at the mid-point of the first quarter to extend the advantage to double digits at 13-2
The three-pointer was part of a 9-0 run after the first basket from Edgewood, stretching the margin 15-2
A layup from Bennita Drain with 2:37 left in the first gave Benedictine the largest lead of the quarter at 17-3
Edgewood pulled within six halfway through the second but a Samantha Realford basket turned the momentum and Benedictine scored the final three points of the half to lead 35-20 at the break
Benedictine continued to lead in the third, stretching the lead out to 21 points on baskets from Drain and Alexandria Agee late
Reserves played most of the fourth quarter as Edgewood held a 14-4 edge to account for the final

"It is always tough to play a team fighting for their first win late in the season," head coach Charlie Averkamp said. "I give credit to our team for competing and coming away with a good road win. Alena (Moro), D'Asia (Williams), and Bennita (Drain) owned the paint today."

Williams led all scorers, finishing with 15 points
Moro tallied a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds
Drain also reached double figures with 10
Benedictine held a 44-38 advantage on the glass and scored 30 points in the paint
Benedictine shot 36.2 percent while holding Edgewood below 30 percent and posted 20 assists on 25 field goals
