Montclair, NJ – Junior Katie Sire recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds as No. 17 Montclair State avenged another of it losses on Saturday with a 56-47 win over The College of New Jersey at the Panzer Athletic Center.

Senior Zoe Curtis added 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Red Hawks, who improved to 22-2 overall, 15-2 in the NJAC with the win. MSU avenged a 49-40 loss to the Lions in Ewing back on January 14.

MSU trailed 16-13 after one period but took the lead with 7:28 for good with 7:28 to play in the second as Rachael Krauss drilled a three-pointer for a 19-18 advantage. Curtis followed that up with a three of her own and a basket by Taylor Harmon with just under three minutes pushed the lead to 24-19. Krauss added two more from behind the arc capping off what turned out to be a 14-3 quarter-ending run that sent Montclair into halftime up 30-21.

TCNJ closed the gap to seven points in third however the Red Hawks used another burst at the end of the period for a 49-32 lead heading into the fourth. Kiarra Dillard hit twice from behind the arc in the run.

Trailing by 17 in the fourth, the Lions (11-12, 8-9 NJAC) whittled away at the lead and managed to get within 53-47 with 2:53 to go as Kate O'Leary drained a long three-pointer. Sire quelled any further comeback with a bucket and added a free throw for the final margin.

Dillard finished with nine points as did Krauss, who added five rebounds. Kate Tobie chipped in with six points and four rebounds while Sage Bennett had five points and three rebounds.

Montclair State, which has already clinched the NJAC regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the tournament, closes out its regular season on Wednesday, February 15 at Rutgers-Camden beginning at 6:00 pm.
