LEWISTON, Maine -- Senior co-captain Allie Coppola poured in a game-high 20 points and grabbed a season-high 19 rebounds to lead the Bates women's basketball team to a 75-44 victory over the University of Maine-Augusta Friday night at Alumni Gym.

Bates (8-14) jumped out to a 27-8 lead and never looked back against the Moose (13-10) on Friday.

The Bobcats shot 8 of 12 from the floor in the first quarter. Junior Lyse Henshaw (Brunswick, Maine) put Bates on top for good with a layup just 1:14 into the game. Henshaw finished with 16 points on 6-8 shooting. She knocked down a game-high three three-pointers on the evening. 

Bates led 10-8 with 4:15 remaining in the first quarter. They proceeded to end the quarter on a 12-0 run. Four different players scored for Bates down the stretch in the first.

Bates kept the run going to start the second quarter thanks to a pair of free throws from first-year Madeline Foote (Duxbury, Mass.) and a Henshaw three. Foote scored six points and tallied a game-high five steals. 

Dominique Lewis put an end to the 17-0 Bates run by hitting a three with 7:06 to go in the second quarter. Lewis led the Moose with 11 points on the evening.

Coppola (Tarrytown, N.Y.) hit a couple of free throws with 57 seconds left in the first half to give Bates a 37-18 lead at halftime.

The Bobcats outscored the Moose 23-13 in the third quarter. Coppola led the way with six rebounds and six points while senior co-captain Bernadette Connors (Windham, N.H.) added five points in the quarter. Connors finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds and a game-high four assists.

A Connors layup with 3:10 to go in the game gave Bates their biggest lead of the contest, a 35-point advantage at 72-37. 

Coppola only played for two minutes in the fourth quarter as Bates gave some of their reserves a chance to play. She finished just one rebound shy of what would have been the first 20-point/20-rebound performance of her career.

Bates dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Moose 53-37. First-year Carly Christofi (Fairlawn, N.J.) chipped in eight points and seven rebounds. 

The Bobcats visit Williams this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for their final NESCAC game of the regular season. Bates can finish as high as sixth in the NESCAC with a victory.
