No. 11 Hope Women's Basketball Rolls To 19th Consecutive 20-Win Season

Guard Victoria Swift netted a career-high 22 points for the Hope College women's basketball team in a 98-55 win at Kalamazoo on Wednesday that gave the nationally ranked Flying Dutch their 19th consecutive season with at least 20 wins.

The sophomore from LaGrange, Illinois (Lyons Township HS) came off the bench to make all five 3-pointers she attempted, including three in the first half to help Hope charge to a 52-32 halftime lead.

Hope improved to 20-2 overall and 12-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The Flying Dutch remained tied atop the MIAA standings with Trine, a 69-51 winner at Adrian on Wednesday.

There are three league games remaining. Hope returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 8 with a 6 p.m. game at Olivet.

Sophomore center Francesca Buchanan of Grant, Michigan (Sparta) chipped 15 points and six rebounds.

Senior forward Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North) recorded her third double-double of the season by collecting 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior forward Jessica Dornoff of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Portage Central) added a career-high eight points off the bench.

The Flying Dutch finished with 38 made field goals — tying their season-high from the November 15 season opener against Wheaton, Illinois.

Hope forced 29 turnovers while committing only 10 of its own.

The Flying Dutch are ranked ninth in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll and 11th by D3hoops.com.
