Senior All-America center Kaitlin Langer matched her career high with 32 points and added 10 boards and the No. 3-ranked Tommies (19-0 overall, 13-0 MIAC) handed No. 17-ranked Gustavus (19-1, 12-1) its first loss, 75-69, in Wednesday night's MIAC women's basketball clash in St. Peter.

St. Thomas has won 29 consecutive regular-season games and 25 in a row against MIAC opposition. The Toms made 17 of their first 18 free throws into the game's final minute.

In their first and only meeting of the unbalanced 18-game conference schedule, the teams couldn't get much seperation in the opening hal and UST took a 41-35 lead into the break.

UST built an 13-point third-quarter lead before the Gusties pulled within 67-66 with 4:55 to play in the fourth frame.

Lucia Renikoff's layup with 46 seconds left pushed the Tommie lead to 73-68, and Paige Gernes added two free throws to help hold off Gustavus.

Langer had 19 points and seven boards in the final two quarters. Renikoff closed with 10 points for UST, which had 18 turnovers but shot 52 percent from the floor. Gernes added six points, nine rebounds and five assists while playing a game-high 36 minutes.

Mikayla Miller had 18 points and Hannah Howard added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Gusties. GAC had only 12 turnovers but shot just 39 percent from the field.
