ROCHESTER, NY (January 28, 2017) — The Vassar College women's basketball team (9-10, 6-4 Liberty) lost to Rochester Institute of Technology (13-7, 6-5 Liberty) on the road Saturday, 85-61.

Ariella Rosenthal poured in a game-high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds and two assists; Nicole Teta tallied 11 points and a game-best nine boards; and Isa Peczuh finished with 10 points to round out Vassar's top scorers. 

The Brewers shot 34 percent from the floor, 26 percent (5-of-19) from three and 86 percent from the charity stripe, while the home team shot 51, 39 (7-of-18) and 80 percent, respectively.

Four Tigers reached double-digit scoring in Jessica Glaz (20p, 4s), Tara Lynch (19p, 7r), Ashlyn Palmitesso (15p, 4a) and Cori Okada (14p, 12a). 

Sophie Nick and Teta scored two of the first three field goals for Vassar to take a brief 5-2 lead, but RIT responded with a 25-3 surge to run away in the first quarter. 

The Brewers scored nine of the next 11 points to end the period and get as close as 12, 29-17, with Peczuh and Teta highlighting the mini-run with a pair of triples. 

The Tigers continued to separate themselves in the second stanza, holding the Brewers to just two field goals in the period. 

After trailing 50-25 at the break, Vassar opened the second half with a 14-4 run to pull within 16, 55-39. Nick sparked the surge with four straight points, while Rosenthal capped it by converting on a three-point play. 

Rosenthal later ended a 16-5 run by RIT, drilling a three-pointer to end the period, 71-47. The junior forward's hot hand continued, as she hit the first field goal of the final frame.

Both sides were fairly even in the fourth quarter, posting 14 points apiece.

Vassar returns to Poughkeepsie, NY, hosting Union College on Friday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. and Skidmore College the next day at 2 p.m.
