Bearcats Lose CUNYAC Contest to Staten Island

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 63-50 to the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island in a CUNYAC home contest on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The visiting Dolphins set the tone early by leading 24-14 after the first quarter and won the overall rebounding battle, 60-35, which included 27 offensive rebounds.

Outside of the first quarter, the two teams played a very competitive contest, but the Bearcats could not overcome the double-digit deficit the rest of the game.


Veronica Ganziled the Bearcats with 17 points and Shannon Barrettadded a solid double-double with 10 points, 18 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Kristen Podlovits(four assists) and Daniela Arias(four steals) each scored nine points. Maria Myrianthopoulos  had five points.

Christina Pasaturo led the visiting Dolphins with 23 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals.  

The Bearcats will continue their homestand on Saturday with a 1 p.m. CUNYAC home contest against CCNY.
