LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team came away with a 72-47 win at Keystone College on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Nafisa Saunders led the Knights with 22 points. AAliya Hayes tallied 21 points and Lauren Legler added 15 points. Eight Knights contributed points in the win and the team shot 51.9% from the floor.
Midway through the first quarter, Neumann took a 7-6 lead and scored the next five points for a 12-6 score. Saunders went 1-for-2 from the line to end the quarter as the Knights held a 13-8 lead after the first 10 minutes.
After the teams traded baskets to start the second quarter, Neumann went on a 9-2 run to increase its lead to 30-18. The Knights took a 33-22 lead into halftime.
The Knights steadily built their lead throughout the third quarter, with the biggest advantage coming at 23, 52-29, on a layup by Hayes. Neumann took a 55-33 lead into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter was no different and Neumann continued to put the pressure on to come away with the 72-47 win.
Neumann (12-6, 7-2) has now won seven straight games. The Knights will return home on Saturday to host Gwynedd Mercy in a key CSAC contest beginning at 1:00 PM.
