Plymouth, N.H.-Senior guard Alex Moore (West Newbury, MA) scored 18 points, added six rebounds and swiped five steals as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team suffered a 73-52 setback against Plymouth State in a Little East Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.

RIC (5-12, 2-5 LEC) junior guard Jessa Rubera (Newton, MA) added 11 points, three assists and two steals, while freshman forward Victoria Demers (Sutton, MA) was also in double figures with 10 points and three boards in the setback.

Senior guard DeAsia "Ace" Lawrence (Middletown, CT) led the way for Plymouth State (5-10, 2-5 LEC) with a game-high 19 points, while senior forward Kayla Wyland (Melrose, MA) registered a double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds for the Panthers.

RIC jumped out to an early, 12-6, advantage, capped by a jumper from freshman guard Kyla DePina (Cranston, RI) with 5:40 remaining in the first quarter. The Anchorwomen led by as many as eight points in the quarter before taking the 18-13 lead at the first intermission.

Plymouth State knotted the game at 20-20 on a jumper by Lawrence with 6:06 left in the first half. The host Panthers had six-point advantages several times in the second quarter and held a 34-28 advantage heading into the locker room at halftime.

The Panthers build on their lead and had their first double-digit advantage when a jumper by Wyland put the score at 48-37 with 4:38 left in the third quarter. Plymouth State held a 56-39 lead after three quarters of play.

Plymouth State pushed the lead to as many as 24 points after a three-pointer by senior guard Leah Thompson (Atkinson, NH) made it 69-45 with just over four minutes left on the clock.

RIC shot 33.3 percent (19-of-57) from the field, 10.0 percent (1-of-10) from behind the three-point stripe and 68.4 percent (13-of-19) from the free throw line. Plymouth State shot 40.3 percent (27-of-67) from the field, 40.0 percent (8-of-20) from beyond the three-point line and 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the free throw line. Plymouth State registered a commanding 59-39 advantage in rebounds for the contest.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at home against Western Connecticut on Wednesday, Jan. 25 (5:30 p.m.).
