Keuka College Defeats SUNY Cobleskill 61-50

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball defeated SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday 61-50 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game.

Keuka College (5-5, 3-4 NEAC) step outside of North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Tuesday as they travel to St. Lawrence University to face the Saints at 5pm.

Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y. / Tupper Lake) led the Wolves with 16 points. Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) finished with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Also in double-figures Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) who scored a career-high 12 points in the win.

Keuka College jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead over SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday, highlighted by three-pointers by Sam Laranjo and Lauren Anten. Keuka College was held without a field goal for the final three minutes of the quarter, but their free throw shooting held as Keuka College led 17-15 after the first quarter.

Two more threes were made by Keuka College to open the second and the Wolves extended their lead. With 1:30 left in the half, Lauren Anten sank a three for the Wolves. It was the team's fifth of the first half. This season, Keuka College is averaging just 4.8 three pointers a game. Anten added a buzzer-beating jumper and Keuka College led 34-27 going into halftime.

The teams traded baskets for most of the third quarter. The Fighting Tigers dug into the deficit, but Keuka never gave up the lead. With just under three minutes left in the third, a layup by Cobleskill made it 42-41 Keuka. Katie Stuart responded with a basket and Sarah Tyler (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) added a layup in the final minutes to give Keuka a 46-41 lead after 30 minutes of play.

The Wolves relied on their defense in the fourth. Keuka College held SUNY Cobleskill to just 26.7% from the floor and 0-6 from three point territory in the quarter. Overall, the Wolves outscored the Fighting Tigers 15-9 as Keuka College went onto the 61-50 victory.
