SEWANEE, Tenn. (Jan. 13, 2017) – Despite battling back from double digits to force overtime, the Sewanee women's basketball team could not overcome the inside play of Sara Dyslin as visiting Hendrix earned a 70-64 victory, Friday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

Down by as much as 13 points early in the third quarter, the purple and gold rallied back to force the extra period. The Tigers countered Dyslin, who finished with 30 points and 19 rebounds, by making seven more three-point attempts and forcing 25 Warrior turnovers.

After Hendrix opened on an 11-3 run, Sewanee responded with a three from Allison Hitchcock and a jumper from Bella Taylor.

Eventually, Sewanee took its first lead of the game after a Sue Kim three and a free throw by Hitchcock. The Tigers' largest lead would come with 4:14 left before halftime after a three by Corey Caulder capped off a 5-2 spurt.

Hendrix answered back with three straight layups, two from Maddie Anderson and one from Madison Martin. That gave the Warriors a two-point advantage, 31-29, at halftime.

The Warriors came out of the locker room red-hot. Five straight points by Dyslin opened an 11-0 run. With Hendrix leading 42-29, Sewanee fought back. A layup by Taylor opened an 8-2 run by Sewanee. After a Katie Roth jumper with less than a minute left in the third, Sewanee headed into the fourth quarter down by five, 50-45.

In the final 10 minutes of regulation, Sewanee outscored Hendrix, 13-7. During that stretch, Taylor added seven of her team-high 18 points.

Along with Taylor, Kim finished in double figures with 12 points. She also added seven steals and three assists.

Sewanee returns to action with a 1:00 p.m. contest Sunday against rival Rhodes.
