Hartford, Conn. – Senior co-captain guard Kaitlin Lewis (Demarest, N.J.) scored 17 points, including two of her five three-pointers in the final 16 seconds of regulation and one as time expired to force overtime, leading the Trinity College Bantams to a 77-72 victory over the visiting Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 10-3 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC, while the Camels drop to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.  Camel junior center Mairead Hynes (Mahopac, N.Y.) led all scorers with 33 points, including 27 after halftime, and added 12 boards.

Trinity snapped a two-game losing skid against the Camels in dramatic fashion, coming back from an eight-point deficit inside the four-minute mark the fourth quarter to tie it at the end.  Hynes gave Connecticut College a 56-48 advantage with 3:39 on the clock, but Trinity scored the next five points on layups by senior co-captain guard Sheena Landy (Durham, Conn.) and sophomore guard Erica Junquet (Monroe, N.J.), and a free throw by first-year forward Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.).  Connecticut College held its ground and led, 61-57, with 26 seconds remaining in the fourth frame after two Hynes free throws, but Junquet fed Lewis for one trey from the right wing and the Bantam pair repeated the effort after two Malman foul shots, as Lewis drilled the game-tying long ball from well behind the arc as the clock hit zero.

In the overtime, the Camels took a 70-69 lead with 2:12 remaining on yet another basket in the paint by Hynes, but Junquet hit a jumper from the foul line to put the Bantams ahead at the 1:16 mark.  Trinity led from that point on, as Landy went 4-for-4 from the foul line down the stretch and Junquet had five of her nine points in the extra session.

Trinity led, 22-19, after the first quarter and, 31-26, at the break, as sophomore center Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.  The Bantams opened up a 39-28 lead with 6:32 left in the third quarter on a Landy layup, but Connecticut College used a 14-5 run to make the score, 43-42, in Trinity's favor with 2:25 remaining before the last break.  Trinity led, 47-44, as the fourth quarter began, but the Camels took a 48-47 lead on a layup by Hynes and extended their lead from there before Trinity mounted its comeback.

Erickson finished with 19 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, Kabari added eight points, six rebounds, and four steals, and Junquet dished out six assists.  Trinity shot 83.3 percent from the foul line (25-30) and 42.9 percent from long range (6-14), as Lewis led the way with five triples in eight attempts to go with her five boards.  Landy added nine points, five rebounds, and four assists for the Bantams.  Connecticut College missed eight of its 23 free throws for a 65.2 percentage and went 1-for-17 from three-point range.  Malman notched 16 points and added three steals, while sophomore forward Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) recorded 12 points, 10 boards, and seven steals for the visitors.
