GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) and freshman Emma Hahner (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) combined for 27 rebounds to lead Gettysburg College past Swarthmore College 70-52 in a Centennial Conference women's hoops showdown inside Bream Gym Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (8-3, 4-2 CC) finished with a definitive 50-33 advantage on the glass, including 18-8 on the offensive boards. The Bullets out-scored Swarthmore (2-10, 2-5 CC) 20-6 in second-chance points.

Gibbons racked up her team-leading eighth double-double of the season with 18 points and a dozen rebounds. Hahner grabbed a personal best 15 rebounds and scored seven points. Junior Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) and freshman Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) each tallied 11 points with the former dishing out seven assists and swiping away two steals.

Lindsay O'Sullivan led the Garnet with 13 points.

Playing its fourth game in six days and third inside Bream Gym, Swarthmore jumped ahead 5-4 following a steal by Hayley Raymond and lay-up by Raina Williams early in the first quarter. The lead was short-lived as sophomore Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) converted an old-fashioned three-point play to ignite an eight-point scoring run by the Bullets.

Leading 25-15 after one quarter, the Bullets ran away from the Garnet with a 14-0 spurt to start the second period. Three of those buckets came as a result of offensive rebounds, including a three-pointer by freshman Amber Bourke (South Orange, N.J./Hun School of Princeton) that made it 39-15 with 6:31 left in the first half. Gettysburg strolled into the break leading 47-25.

The host's lead continued to grow in the third quarter as Gibbons led the way with 10 points in the frame. A jumper by Gehrin made it 65-32 with 1:18 left in the third period.

Gettysburg hits the road for its next contest at Haverford College on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m.
