Green Leads Oxy Past Caltech

LOS ANGELES – The Occidental women's basketball team surged in the second half to beat Caltech 68-48 at Rush Gym on Wednesday.

Shariah Green notched her first career double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, Triana Anderson added 15 points and Erin Matsumoto had another well-rounded game, finishing with seven points, six rebounds and three steals.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC. The Beavers fall to 2-10 and 0-3.

After the Beavers were able to take a 17-16 lead with 6:23 left in second quarter, the Occidental offense started to come to life, going on an 18-5 run to finish the quarter. The run was highlighted by a buzzer beater lay-up by Kendahl Wallis-Lang, who finished the game with 11 rebounds.

Oxy's offense picked up where it left off in the second half, spreading the ball out better. The defense smothered the Beavers, holding them to five points in the third quarter.

Samantha D'Costa led Caltech with 17 points.

Next Game: The Tigers play at La Verne Saturday at 2 p.m.
