WORCESTER, Mass.—Junior Brenna LeGacy (Attleboro, Mass.) scored 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting to pace four players in double figures as visiting Babson College rolled past WPI, 65-47, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Harrington Auditorium.

With its ninth win in the last 10 games, Babson is now 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. WPI, which defeated the Green and White in last year's NEWMAC Tournament final and entered the night with an 11-game winning streak, is now 11-2 overall and 3-1 in the NEWMAC.

Sophomore Elizabeth Lane (Skaneateles, N.Y.) scored 12 points, senior Taylor Russell (Braintree, Mass.) finished with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals, and classmate Giovanna Pickering (Hull, Mass.) contributed 10 points, eight boards and a game-high six assists for the Beavers. Fellow senior Jennifer Narlee (Medfield, Mass.) added six points and led all players with nine rebounds in the win.

Junior Priscilla Dunphy (Barrington, R.I.) scored 12 points and sophomore Ama Biney (Worcester, Mass.) added 11 for the Engineers, who entered the night as the nation's third-ranked scoring defense allowing just 43.0 points per game.

Trailing 6-4 just over three minutes into the contest, Pickering and LeGacy combined for 10 points during a 12-0 run that helped the Green and White seize control of the game. Sophomore Tea Spellacy (Belchertown, Mass.) pushed the margin to 10 on the second possession of the second quarter, and Lane followed with the first of her two three-pointers to make it 21-8 with 8:00 to go in the stanza.

WPI twice pulled within 10, but Lane capped a 7-0 run that extended the lead to 15 with her second three-pointer, and then hit a pair of free throws in the closing seconds of the half to send Babson into the locker room with a 37-22 edge.

Russell scored seven third-quarter points and sparked a 7-1 run that pushed the Beavers' advantage to 44-23 just over three minutes into the period. WPI would trim the deficit to 15 on a layup by junior Maura Buckley (Melrose, Mass.), but the Green and White responded with a 14-5 spurt that included eight points from LeGacy to build its biggest lead of the night at 59-35 with 7:18 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Babson shot 48.1 percent (25-of-52) and finished with a 43-24 edge on the glass. The Beavers also finished a season-best 92.3 percent (12-of-13) from the free throw line.

The Engineers shot just 33.9 percent (20-of-59), their lowest percentage from the field since a season-opening loss to UMass Dartmouth back on November 15.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson hosts Mount Holyoke at 1 p.m., while WPI takes on Coast Guard at 2 p.m.

•    The Beavers are now 34-21 all-time against WPI and have won 16 of the last 18 meetings between the two teams.
•    With six assists on Wednesday, Pickering is now fourth on the program's all-time list with 311 career dimes.
•    Over its first four conference games, Babson is allowing just 50.5 points while holding its foes to 31.7 percent shooting.
•    The Beavers have won 15 consecutive regular season games against conference foes, which includes eight straight on the road.
