SALEM, Va. – In the final contest of the Susan Dunagan Classic, Hannah Rehbaum's 21 point performance helped lead The College at Brockport women's basketball team past a tough Roanoke College squad, 69-64.

The Golden Eagles improve to 3-8 on the year while the Maroons fall to 6-5 on the season.

The contest would prove to be evenly matched, with just a one-point difference following the first quarter of play. Hannah Rehbaum got things started with an early layup, but a quick five points from Roanoke forced the Green and Gold to play catch-up.

Behind a Rehbaum jumper and a Brianna Neeley trey, Brockport regained the lead with 3:49 to play, a slim 14-13 advantage. The two squads traded leads, as Brockport narrowly trailed 20-19 heading into the first break.

In the second frame it was again Rehbaum who got things started, with a quick score lifting the Golden Eagles 21-20. A 10-4 Maroon run to close the half made the count 33-27 at the half.

At the midway point, Rehbaum led the Golden Eagles with 14 points and five rebounds, with Welch adding three points and three assists. Brockport held the Maroons scoreless from three-point range in the first half, and outrebounded Roanoke by a margin of 30-25, with 20 defensive boards.

The Brockport offense had to dig out of a hole, as Roanoke worked out to a double-digit lead by the 7:37 mark to start the half. The Green and Gold pieced together a solid 15-2 run, regaining the lead at 46-43, thanks to strong shooting from the charity stripe with three different Golden Eagles connecting from the line. A timely Roanoke three to close the quarter, the only of the contest, knotted things at 48-48 heading into the final frame.

The Green and Gold kept the offense churning, with an 8-0 spurt to open the fourth. The run saw a triple from Rehbaum, and a pair of layups from Emily Nestler and Bailey Pratt pushing the Golden Eagles ahead 56-48 with 7:18 remaining. Brockport saw its lead hit double-digits by the 3:43 mark, with a Lindsay Johnson jumper and a Pratt three giving the Green and Gold a 61-50 edge.

Head coach Corinne Jones' squad fought to hold off a charging Maroons team, and used the charity stripe cement the 69-64 win.

Rehbaum led all scorers with 21 points and seven rebounds, with Pratt and Welch each turning in double-digits with 10 points apiece while Welch dished out five assists. Johnson nabbed nine points and seven rebounds on the day.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action after the New Year, when they get back into State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play at SUNY Geneseo on Jan. 7.
