DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Senior Jennifer Narlee (Medfield, Mass.) scored the go-ahead hoop with 1:00 remaining in overtime and first-year Emily Bonifacic (Allendale, N.J.) had a key steal on the following possession to help Babson College defeat Emory & Henry University, 61-59, in the Daytona Beach Shootout on Tuesday afternoon at the Ocean Center.

With its sixth consecutive win, Babson is now 7-1 on the year, while Emory & Henry drops to 6-3 with its second straight loss.

Senior Taylor Russell (Braintree, Mass.) scored a season-high 17 points and added eight rebounds and three assists to lead the Beavers. Narlee contributed nine points, 10 boards and six steals, while fellow senior Giovanna Pickering (Hull, Mass.) chipped in with eight points, four assists and three steals to go along with a team-high 11 rebounds. Junior Brenna LeGacy (Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Bianca Tomassini (North Branford, Conn.) also finished with eight points in the win.

Senior Megan Jacoby (Richmond, Va.) had 14 points and five steals, while sophomore Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Wasps.

The Green and White led by two after the first quarter and used a 16-2 run over the final 6:35 of the second quarter to build a 28-18 lead at the break.
The Beavers extended their lead to 12 twice early in the third quarter, but Emory & Henry went on a 19-6 run keyed by four points apiece from Blevins and first-year Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) to take a 39-38 advantage in the closing seconds of the third quarter.

Russell and Bonifacic combined for three straight buckets to put Babson back in front 44-39 with 8:26 to go in the fourth, and an offensive rebound and put back by sophomore Raven Brathwaite (Dorchester, Mass.) gave the Green and White a 48-43 edge with 5:52 to play in regulation. The Wasps scored seven consecutive points to go in front 50-48 on a pair of free throws by Blevins with 38 seconds left, but LeGacy scored on the left block 11 seconds later and Narlee blocked a shot on the other end to force overtime.

Blevins made four free throws early in the extra session to give Emory & Henry a 54-52 lead, but consecutive layups by Tomassini and a hoop by Narlee pushed the Beavers ahead for good at 58-56. Pickering and Narlee both went 1-of-2 at the free throw line over the final 30 seconds to help seal the win.

Babson shot 37.9 percent (25-of-66) from the floor, outscored the Wasps 28-22 in the paint and finished with a 48-45 edge on the glass. The Beavers also scored 18 second-chance points off of 15 offensive boards.

Emory & Henry, which entered the game ranked in the top five nationally in both scoring offense and field goal percentage, shot just 30.2 percent (19-of-63) on the afternoon.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday as Babson faces Mount Saint Mary at 4 p.m., while Emory & Henry takes on MCLA at 12 p.m.

GAME NOTES
•    Tuesday's meeting was the first in program history against Emory & Henry for the Beavers.
•    Prior to Tuesday, Babson had not gone to overtime in 150 straight games going back its 2011 NCAA Tournament Sectional Semifinal win over Bowdoin.
•    The Beavers have held their opponents below 40 percent shooting in each of their seven victories this season.
•    Babson is 26-1 since the start of last year when scoring at least 60 points.
