No. 7 Hope Women's Basketball Tops Heidelberg, To Meet No. 23 Wis.-Stevens Point For Exam Jam Title

The unbeaten and nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team passed its first test in its annual Post-Exam Jam on Friday.

Now a bigger one awaits.

The Flying Dutch will face nationally ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point in Saturday's championship game at DeVos Fieldhouse after defeating Heidelberg, Ohio 78-55 on Friday.

Hope enters 9-0 and ranked seventh in both of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com polls. Stevens Point is 7-1 and ranked 18th by the WBCA and 23rd by D3hoops.com.

Against Heidelberg, sophomore forward Francesca Buchanan of Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) topped the Flying Dutch with a game-high 17 points.

Senior forward Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North) recorded a double-double with 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.

Junior forward/center Jacquelyn Schwark of Fraser, Michigan (Lutheran North) chipped in 10 points off the bench.

The Flying Dutch committed a season-low five turnovers.

Stevens Point topped Rochester, Michigan 76-66 in Friday's opener. Center Taylor Barrett led Stevens Point with 20 points.
