Balanced Bullets Beat Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. Seven players scored at least six points as the Gettysburg College women's basketball team raced past Bryn Mawr College 90-41 in a Centennial Conference match up inside Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Saturday.

 

Gettysburg (4-3, 3-2 CC) never trailed against Bryn Mawr (1-8, 0-6 CC). Bullets broke a 4-4 tie with 29-4 run spanning the first and second quarters. After putting up 27 points in the opening quarter, the visitors added 26 in the second to take a 53-24 edge at halftime.

 

Gettysburg put the game on cruise control in the second half as the younger team members took over the show, including freshman Amber Bourke (South Orange, N.J./Hun School of Princeton), who poured in all of her career-high 18 points in the final two periods of play. Bourke finished 6-of-9 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in the game.

 

Junior Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) and sophomore Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) played only a combined 42 minutes. Gibbons posted 17 points and eight rebounds, while Dorshimer saw her streak of 20-point games come to an end with eight tallies to go with nine rebounds and four assists. Dorshimer's stretch of six 20-point efforts tied the program record set by Sue Marshall '85 in 1984-85.

 

Freshman Emma Hahner (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) posted her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Lindsay Hiner (New Britain, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) picked up nine points on a trio of three-pointers and grabbed five boards. Freshman Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) added nine points, while junior Kendra Meredith (Boyds, Md./Northwest) logged six points, seven rebounds, and two steals.

 

Halena Martin led Bryn Mawr with 15 points.

 

Gettysburg returns to action at Shenandoah University on Dec. 29 at 6 p.m.
