BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Taylor Russell (Braintree, Mass.) and junior Brenna LeGacy(Attleboro, Mass.) each scored 15 points and Babson College outscored visiting Wellesley College 39-12 in the middle quarters on its way to a 64-34 victory in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Staake Gymnasium.

With its fifth straight win, Babson is now 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while Wellesley slips to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC.

Russell added seven rebounds, while senior Giovanna Pickering (Hull, Mass.) finished with 10 points, eight assists, seven boards and four steals for the Beavers. Classmate Jennifer Narlee (Medfield, Mass.) led all players with 10 rebounds in the win.

Senior Ailis Hanley (Cranston, R.I.) scored nine points and pulled down five boards to lead the Blue.

Despite struggling to find a rhythm on offense in the early going, the Green and White held Wellesley to just one field goal over a 10-minute stretch to build an 18-9 lead with 5:31 to go in the second quarter. First-year Caitlin Aguirre (El Paso, Texas) and sophomore Zojajha Ayub (Belle Mead, N.J.) knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to cut the Blue deficit to 20-15 at the 4:37 mark, but the Beavers closed the stanza with a 12-0 run that included four points apiece from Russell and Bonifacic to take a 32-15 lead into the locker room.

Pickering and LeGacy opened the third quarter with back-to-back hoops and the Beavers outscored Wellesley 15-0 over the final 5:37 of the frame to put the game away. First-year Meghan Lewis (Demarest, N.J.) sandwiched a pair of jumpers around a triple from Russell to extend the lead to 43-19. Pickering and LeGacy then combined to score eight of the next 10 points to make it 53-19 going to the fourth.

Babson shot only 36.1 percent (22-of-61) on the night, but outscored Wellesley 26-0 in the paint and finished with a 51-28 edge on the glass. The Beavers also held the Blue to just 21.1 percent (12-of-57) from the floor.

Babson returns to action on December 20 when it takes on Emory & Henry at 2 p.m. in Daytona Beach, Fla., while Wellesley hosts UMass Dartmouth at 1 p.m. on December 29.
