Providence, R.I.--The Rhode Island College women's basketball team dropped a 70-41 decision against Emmanuel in a non-conference contest played at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening. RIC has now dropped six straight decisions against Emmanuel.

RIC (4-6) senior guard Alex Moore (West Newbury, MA) scored a team-high 14 points and added seven rebounds in the setback. She now needs 15 points to become the 14^th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. Freshman guard Jordyn Gauvin (Fall River, MA) chipped in with nine points and four rebounds for the Anchorwomen.

Emmanuel (4-3) was led by senior forward Jen Chalk (Horseheads, NY) with 15 points, four steals and three rebounds, while junior guard Alisha Fox (National Park, NJ) was also in double-figures with 14 points and three assists. Freshman center Tatijana Ferguson (Boynton Beach, FL) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and contributed three points and three assists for the Saints.

The game was even throughout the early part of the first quarter with the score tied, 6-6, midway through the stanza. RIC then used an 11-5 run, capped by a three-pointer from Gauvin to take a 17-11 advantage with 1:31 left in the quarter. The Anchorwomen, led by five points from freshman forward Victoria Demers (Sutton, MA), held the 17-13 advantage heading into the first intermission.

The two teams traded lead throughout the second quarter with the score tied, 25-25, on a pair of free throws from Moore with 2:37 left in the half. The visiting Saints then closed out the second quarter on a 7-2 run to take a five point, 32-27, lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

Emmanuel extended its lead to start the third quarter and the Saints took their first double-digit advantage, 39-29, on a pair of free throws by Fox with 5:23 left in the stanza. Emmanuel continued to build on their advantage and took a 19 point, 52-33, advantage after three quarters of play.

The Saints then cruised to the 71-40 victory after a commanding, 18-8, scoring advantage in the fourth quarter.

RIC shot 25.5 percent (13-of-51) from the field, 5.6 percent (1-of-18) from behind the three-point stripe and 70.0 percent (14-of-20) from the free throw line. Emmanuel shot 43.3 percent (29-for-67) from the field, 17.6 percent (3-for-17) from the three-point line and 64.3 percent (9-for-14) from the free throw line.

Emmanuel held a 40-39 advantage in rebounds for the contest and forced RIC into 20 turnovers. The Saints outscored RIC, 38-16, in the paint and had 29 points off of the Anchorwomen's 22 turnovers. Thirteen different Saints scored at least one point in the victory.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at home against Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, Dec. 10 (1 p.m.).
