SUNY Poly Tops Keuka College in Women’s Basketball

MARCY, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Sunday afternoon at SUNY Poly by the score of 69-40.

Keuka College (1-4, 0-3 NEAC) will conclude their fall semester next Saturday as they travel to Alfred State University to face the Pioneers.

Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y. / Tupper Lake) scored11 points for Keuka College in the lost. Freshman Tiffany Binion (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) continued to make an impact in the middle with five blocks and five rebounds for the Wolves. Fellow freshman Niki Templeton (Livonia, N.Y. / Livonia) finished with a team-high four steals.

Keuka College took an early lead against SUNY Poly as Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton), Katie Stuart, and Courtney Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay) each made their first shots of the game. Unfortunately, the Wildcats responded with 15 unanswered points to take a 17-6 lead over Keuka College. The Wolves got a basket late to stop the run, but SUNY Poly led 22-8 after the first quarter.

SUNY Poly remained in control in the second quarter, holding Keuka College off the board for the first four minutes of the quarter. The Wildcats outscored the Wolves 25-10 in the quarter and led 47-18 at the half.

The Wildcats continued to grow their lead over Keuka College. Guard Arianna DeNault (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker) had four of Keuka's eight points in the quarter as Keuka College trailed SUNY Poly 63-26 going to the final quarter.

Keuka College outscored SUNY Poly 14-6 in the fourth quarter. Overall in the second half, Keuka College held the Wildcats to just 24% from the floor but it was not enough as SUNY Poly defeated Keuka College 69-40.
