Keuka College Drops NEAC Game at SUNY Cobleskill

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball team fell on Saturday afternoon to SUNY Cobleskill by the score of 70-59 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game.

Keuka College (1-3, 0-2 NEAC) wrap-up this weekend's trip on Sunday with a 1pm game at SUNY Poly.

Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) led the Wolves on Saturday with 16 points, shooting 70% from the floor. One point behind her was Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y. / Tupper Lake). The senior finished with 15 points and led Keuka with six rebounds. Sophomore Sarah Tyler (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) set a new career-high with 10 points in the loss.

The Wolves netted the first three points from the free throw line and held Cobleskill off the board for the first two minutes in a back and forth quarter. The game was tied four times in the quarter and neither team led by more than three points in the frame. At the end for the first, SUNY Cobleskill led 19-17.

The game remained the close in the second half with the lead bouncing between the two teams. Tiffany Binion (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) made a jumper, followed by a pair of baskets by Lauren Anten as Keuka College went on a 6-0 run to take a five-point lead with three minutes left in the half. Keuka was poised to take that margin into halftime but a last second basket by the Fighting Tigers sent the teams into halftime with Keuka leading 36-33.

Keuka College maintained their lead throughout the first half of the third quarter. SUNY Cobleskill scored six straight to take the lead, but Sarah Tyler gave the Wolves the lead right back with a jumper, making it 44-43 with three minutes left. The Fighting Tigers answered and closed the quarter with a 5-0 run to lead 49-46 after thirty minutes.

SUNY Cobleskill continued their run with the first four points of the fourth. They would build their lead to double-digits and outscore Keuka College 21-13 in the quarter on the way to the 70-59 victory.
