DOVER, Del. – A career night by senior Kiki Laux guided the Marymount (Va.) University women's basketball team to an 83-71 victory over Wesley College in its Capital Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday night.

Laux posted her first collegiate double double, notching career and game highs in both points and rebounds with 23 and 11, respectively. Also recording her first double double of the season was junior Nicole Viscuso, adding 18 points and 10 rebounds, while freshmen Regan Lohr and Lauryn Stouffer set new marks in their careers with 16 and 10 points, in that order, to round out the double-digit scorers for the Saints.

Behind 53.3-percent shooting for the game, Marymount pushed the early advantage in the game with a 9-0 run to hold a lead that wouldn't falter throughout the full 40 minutes. Viscuso dropped in the first two buckets, sophomore Tyffani McQueen added two free throws, and Lohr cashed in the first of her two three-pointers for the game to cap off the stretch.

By the midway mark of the first quarter, the Wolverines chipped their way back into the game. But MU rallied to push its first double-digit advantage before the end of the quarter, pushing the lead to 22-12 following three-consecutive free throws by Laux.

Although the Marymount lead would vary throughout the remainder of the game, the Saints never let the score sway into favor of Wesley. Eventually, MU pushed its largest lead of the game with 58 seconds left in the fourth when Lohr notched two free throws to give the Saints a 12-point advantage, 79-67, to seal up the victory.

The Saints dominated in most categories for the night, seeing the most impressive numbers come from 20 second-chance points and 42 points in the paint. Marymount outrebounded Wesley, 46-22, including 19 offensive boards.

The women will continue conference play on Saturday, December 3, as they return home for a matchup against St. Mary's College of Maryland. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m., in the Verizon Sports Arena.
