Providence, R.I.--Senior guard Alex Moore (West Newbury, MA) narrowly missed a triple-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Rhode Island College women's basketball team to a 61-48 victory against Lyndon State in a non-conference contest played at The Murray Center on Tuesday evening. |

Sophomore forward Molly Phillips (Cranston, RI) added 10 points and five rebounds for RIC (3-3), while junior guard Jessa Rubera (Newton, MA) was also in double-figures with 10 points in the win for the Anchorwomen. |

Junior center Mikayla Hodge (Newbury, VT) paced Lyndon State (1-2) with a double-double, scoring 16 points with 16 rebounds, while junior guard Gabrielle Foy (Wilton, ME) added 22 points and five rebounds for the Hornets. |

RIC jumped out to the early lead and held the 9-2 advantage on a three-pointer by Moore with 5:24 left in the first quarter. The Anchorwomen held a 13-8 advantage after the first quarter on the strength of eight points by Moore. RIC held Lyndon State to just 23.5 percent (4-for-17) shooting from the field and forced the Hornets into six first quarter turnovers. |

Lyndon State chipped away at the lead throughout the second quarter and trailed by just four points when a free throw by Foy with 2:35 left on the clock made the score 25-21. RIC responded and closed out the half on a 7-0 run, capped by a free-throw by Rubera with less than a second left on the clock, to give the Anchorwomen their largest lead of the contest, 32-21 heading into the locker room at halftime. Moore notched 10 first-half points for RIC, while Foy registered 10 in the stanza for Lyndon State. |

The visiting Hornets cut the RIC lead to just three points, 40-37, on a three-pointer by Foy with 2:11 left in the third quarter. That would be as close as Lyndon State would get as RIC took a 44-39 lead after three quarters of play. Lyndon State shot 21.1 percent (8-for-19) from the field for the third quarter. |

The Anchorwomen regained their double-digit advantage early in the fourth quarter as a three-pointer by Moore gave the team a 49-39 lead with 8:44 left in regulation. RIC led by as many as 15 points down the stretch before taking the 61-48 victory. |

RIC shot 31.2 percent (24-for-77) from the field, 20.7 percent (6-for-29) from behind the three-point stripe and 58.3 (7-for-12) from the free throw line. Lyndon State shot 33.9 percent (19-for-56) from the field, 14.3 percent (2-for-14) from beyond the three-point line and 61.5 percent (8-for-13) from the free throw line. RIC forced Lyndon State into 24 turnovers and scored 30 points off of those turnovers. |
