WORCESTER – Junior Ama Biney (Worcester, MA) scored 19 points, on 9 of 12 shooting, and hauled in eight rebounds as WPI bested visiting Nichols, 76-49, Tuesday night in a non-conference women's basketball matchup in Harrington Auditorium.

All 18 Engineers saw playing time as 12 logged at least a rebound and 11 recorded at least two points. Biney was followed by classmates Madison Beck (Syracuse, NY) with 11 points and Stasha Greenalch (Newington, CT) with nine. Junior Maura Buckley (Melrose, MA) and Greenalch, who also doled out eight of the Engineers 17 assists, pulled down four boards apiece.

Senior Taylor Daniels (Dudley, MA) poured in a game-best 24 points, including a pair of threes and 10 free throws on 11 chances, as sophomore Callie Andrews (Southbridge, MA) posted 12. Junior Allison Cerrato (Rockland, MA), Junior Brooke Packard (Dudley, MA), sophomore Amy Assad (Millis, MA) and senior Brittany Donovan (Newport, RI) accounted for the rest. Donovan gobbled up a team-high seven rebounds and six steals while Daniels and Packard each handed out three apples.

Greenalch hit a pair of layups as part of a 7-0 spurt out of the gate. Daniels and Biney took over and scored their respective teams next five points. Donovan's triple with 3:32 remaining in the first cut the deficit to 11 (20-9). The Engineers ended up taking the initial 10 minutes 25-14. The Bison kept it relatively close in the second as the Engineers added seven to their margin for a 43-25 score at the half.

Despite the margin WPI claimed two more rebounds (40-38) and one less turnover (22-21), and Nichols had one more steal (9-8). The Crimson and Gray doubled up the Bison in points off turnovers (32-16) in addition to cushions in second chance points (16-7) and bench points (34-15).

After WPI took the 72-32 lead at the end of three, Nichols won the fourth by a 17-4 count. The frame included a 15-0 run, including nine free throws, by the Bison to close out the game.
