DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team suffered a 63-55 home loss to non-conference foe Juniata College on Tuesday evening.

The Eagles, who made a four-hour trek for the contest, evened their record at 2-2 while the Aggies fell to 0-4.

Juniata scored 13 of the game's first 16 points to build an early double-digit lead. DelVal fought back and pulled to within three, 20-17, on a pair of Danielle Skedzielewski free throws with 5:45 remaining in the first half. The Eagles responded with a 13-3 spurt and they eventually took a 33-23 advantage into the intermission.

Juniata upped its lead to as many as 19 in the third quarter and was still up 17 with 4:10 remaining in the contest. DelVal made a late run as five straight points from Skedzielewski and four from Morgan Mitchell made it a 60-52 contest with 1:32 to go. A Bailey Swogger jumper for the Eagles was followed by a Sam Foy triple with 53 seconds left to pull the Aggies to within seven. Juniata added a free throw with 26 seconds to go and DelVal turned it over on the ensuing inbounds. The Eagles ran out the clock from there.

Both team shot under 37 percent from the field. Juniata held a 46-36 advantage on the boards, but turned the ball over 23 times compared to 20 from the Aggies.

Dani Atkinson hit four treys and finished with 16 points for the Eagles. She also added 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Katy Leamer had 11 points and nine boards in the win.

Skedzielewski led all scorers with 17 points and she also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Foy finished with 16 points and four steals while Mitchell came off the bench to add 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Ashley Smink added seven points and five assists.

DelVal returns to action on Wednesday, November 30 (7 p.m.) when it travels to Goucher College for a non-conference game.
