Panthers Drop Season Opener at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. –  The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team started strong at Piedmont College Tuesday evening, but eventually fell 52-39 in their season opener.  The Panthers bench performed well, accounting for half the team's points.

 

Taydra Holt (LaGrange, Ga./Andrew College) led the team in points.  Laura Van Peursem(Huntsville, Ala./Randolph HS) and Emilee Olsen(Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) tied with a game-high seven rebounds, and Jameice Holmes (Nashville, Tenn./University School of Nashville) spent a game-high 36 minutes on the floor grabbing a team-best three steals.

 

BSC remains on the road.  They travel next to Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw Tipoff Tournament.  The Panthers face host DePauw, who is receiving votes in the D3hoops.com preseason poll, at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 18.
