BUFFALO, N.Y.—  Buffalo State had four players tally double-digit scoring in a thrilling 63-62 overtime SUNYAC win over Oneonta to close out the 2015-16 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Buffalo State outscored Oneonta each of the final three periods, including overtime to take the win.  
  • The Red Dragons had a chance to send the game into a second overtime, with two free throws in the final seconds of overtime, but Oneonta missed the second shot and the Bengals secured the ball as time expired.
  • Senior Britt Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) led the Bengals on offense with 19 points and five assists.
  • Krystal Watson (Buffalo/Sacred Heart) finished with a double-double, tallying 11 points and 10 rebounds. Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) also finished with 11 points and Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) rounded out the Bengals double-digit scorers with 10 points.
  • Buffalo State held onto the lead in the opening minutes of the game, until a 3-pointer from the Red Dragons put them ahead 10-9 at 4:51. Three more back-to-back 3-pointers put Oneonta ahead 21-15 at 1:14.
  • Midway through the second period, a layup from Watson put Buffalo State back in control 25-24, but the Red Dragons managed to quickly take the lead back and pushed it out to nine points with just under three minutes to go in the half.
  • Trailing by seven entering the third quarter, the Bengals defense stepped up and held the Red Dragons to just six points.
  • Two free throws from Perry pulled Buffalo State to within one point, 44-43, heading into the fourth quarter.
  • Oneonta was able to gain a seven point lead on the Bengals with 4:27 left on the clock, but a 9-0 run from Buffalo State put them back on top 54-52 with 16 seconds left in regulation.
  • Two made free throws from the Red Dragons in the final seconds of the fourth sent the game into overtime.
  • The score remained close in overtime, but two made free throws from Edwards with eight seconds to play proved to be key for the Bengals as the Red Dragons would miss 1 of 2 free throw in the final second, sealing the win for Buffalo State.
  • The Bengals finished the game shooting 33.3 percent from the floor, 11.1 percent from long range and 72 percent from the free throw line.
  • Buffalo State took advantage of its inside game, outscoring Oneonta 32-16 in the paint.

 

FOR THE FOES

  • Lyteshia Price led the Red Dragon offense with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Cara Adams added nine points and Madeline Frank chipped in eight points, while Sara DiPasquale tallied 10 rebounds.
  • Oneonta finished the game shooting 29 percent from the floor, 40.9 percent from long range and 48.1 percent from the free throw line.

  • Buffalo State celebrated Senior Day on Saturday. Congratulations goes out Perry, Watson, Clarisa Matias (Buffalo/Holy Angels) and Jordan Yastresmki (Bath/Bath-Haverling) who all played in their final game as a Bengal.
