BRISTOL, R.I. -- Nationally-ranked University of New England had five players in double figures and never trailed in a 76-68 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball victory over Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 13) at the Campus Recreation Center.

The Nor'easters -- ranked at No. 22 and No. 20 in the latest Top 25 polls (D3hoops/Coaches) -- won for the 15th consecutive outing to improve to 20-3 overall and stay perfect in the league at 16-0. UNE had dropped its last two in Rhode Island against the Hawks (14-9, 11-5 CCC).

Big Blue reaches the 20-win mark for an eighth straight season; only five other women's basketball programs in Division III started the 2015-16 campaign with an active run of seven years or more.

Meghan Gribbin led the way for UNE with a game-high 19 points. Lauren Hayden added 16 points and seven rebounds, while Alicia Brown contributed 13 points and seven boards in just 20 minutes of action before fouling out. Alanna Vose had 11 points and Olivia Shaw chipped in with 10 points to go with 11 rebounds.

For RWU, Rachel Battista registered 17 points (10 in the 4th) and Angelica Ariola finished with 12 (7 in the 3rd). Bridget Quilty and Mariah Nicholas tallied 11 points apiece; Quilty also had a match-best 14 boards and five blocks, and Nicholas pulled in seven caroms to help the hosts post a 48-43 edge on the glass.

The Nor'easters started strong behind Brown, who scored the first six points of the contest and UNE's initial 10. The Hawks drew even at 18-all early in the 2nd, but the visitors countered with a 9-2 spurt and took a 34-28 cushion into the half.

Sadie DiPierro (also 9 rebounds and 4 steals) and Shaw canned treys during the opening moments of the 3rd, pushing the gap into double digits (40-28) where it stayed through the end of the quarter (54-40).

The spread was 15 in the 4th before a 10-1 run by Roger Williams cut the deficit down to six (58-52) with 4:20 remaining. However, UNE made 15 of its next 16 free throws -- 8-for-8 by Gribbin and 4-of-4 by Vose -- to keep the hosts from getting any closer. The Nor'easters had converted just 10 of 20 at the line prior to the final stretch.

Big Blue heads to Eastern Nazarene College (8-8 CCC) on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
