LA VERNE — Erin Matsumoto scored 18 points and Grace Baranowski added 14 in a 73-64 loss at La Verne on Saturday.

The Leopards shot close to 50 percent and the Tigers struggled from the field, shooting 33 percent.

Noelle Cobb had a big night for La Verne, scoring a game-high 28 points on 12 of 16 shooting.

Oxy got off to a slow start for the third time in four games, but wasn't able to overcome it. The Tigers escaped a 13-2 hole on Tuesday to beat Redlands and a 19-2 deficit to beat Caltech last week.

Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 9-14 and 5-9 in SCIAC.

The Leopards improve to 4-17 and 3-10. 

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday against Pomona-Pitzer at 7:30 p.m. at Rush Gym.
