BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The nationally-ranked University of New England women's basketball team earned its fifth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season title with a 62-54 victory over Endicott College Wednesday (Feb. 10) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

UNE (19-3, 15-0 CCC), ranked 20th in the WBCA/USA Today Coaches Poll and 22nd in the D3hoops.com Poll, closed to within one victory of its eighth straight 20-win season with its 14th consecutive victory and is now 23-12 all-time versus the Gulls (13-9, 11-4). The Nor'easters are 44-0 versus CCC opponents at the Harold Alfond Forum since the facility opened in 2012.

Lauren Hayden led the way for UNE with 15 points and nine steals, shooting 6-for-8 from the floor. Alanna Vose came off the bench to contribute 13 points -- including three 3-pointers -- while Meghan Gribbin and Olivia Shaw scored 10 points apiece. Shaw matched Alicia Brown with eight rebounds to pace UNE in that category.

Kelsey Cuddy poured in a game-high 20 points for Endicott. She also led all players with nine boards and added three assists. Catie Lipscomb had a big game from beyond the arc, knocking down all five of her three-point attempts for 15 points. Gabriella Coppola led all players with eight assists.

The Nor'easters took control early, establishing a 9-0 lead halfway through the first quarter. UNE would lead 13-7 after one in a low-scoring stanza.

Both offenses got into gear in the second quarter. Lipscomb nailed the first of her five treys at the 6:36 mark, punctuating a 10-3 run that gave the Gulls their first lead (17-16).

A layup by Vose less than a minute later would give the Nor'easters the lead for good and initiated a 7-0 run. The two teams traded baskets the remainder of the half, and UNE took a 29-25 advantage into halftime.

The Gulls would get no closer the rest of the way as UNE outscored the visitors 9-2 over the opening 3:21 of the third period. Gribbin converted a layup and a triple to finish off the spurt.

The Nor'easters' lead crested at 14 (56-42) with 7:37 remaining in the final frame before settling for an eight-point margin of victory.

Both teams were efficient shooting the basketball -- UNE made 47.2 percent (25 of 53) of its attempts while Endicott shot the ball at a 44.7 percent (21 of 47) clip. The Nor'easters' defense forced 21 Endicott turnovers, and the Gulls held a slight edge (30-29) in the rebounding department.

UNE travels to Roger Williams University on Saturday (1 p.m.), while Endicott hosts Gordon College (1 p.m.).
