Stockton Rolls Over New Jersey City 85-45

Jersey City, NJ – Stockton University (19-4, 13-3 NJAC) shot a blistering 65.6 percent from the floor in the second half and rolled to an 85-45 victory over New Jersey City (1-21, 0-16). The Ospreys outscored the Gothic Knights 54-22 after the break. Eleven Stockton players tallied points in the game, led by four starters in double figures.

Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/CH West) paced the Ospreys with a game-high 19 points and just missed her third triple-double of the season, finishing with nine rebounds and nine blocks. Lea Mendolla (Nutley/Mount St. Dominic) went 3-5 from three-point range and totaled 15 points.

Najha Treadwell (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) shot 5-7 from the floor and netted 12 points while Taylor Christina (Franklinville/Delsea) also contributed 12 markers. Stockton forced 29 NJCU turnovers and converted them into 37 points. The Ospreys also dominated inside with a 42-18 advantage on points in the paint.
Stockton raced out to a 12-0 lead behind two early layups by Williams. The Ospreys led 17-2 before letting New Jersey City close within 18-12 after one period. Stockton got off to another quick start in the second quarter, opening with a 9-2 spurt that made it 27-14. NJCU again closed the gap, this time to 31-23 at intermission. Williams topped the Ospreys with seven first-half points.
Williams scored six more points and Christina added five as Stockton began the second half with a 15-2 onslaught that put the game away. The Ospreys led 46-25 when Mendolla capped the run with a jumper and 54-35 after three. Stockton poured it on in the fourth quarter by outscoring NJCU 31-10 to finish with an 85-45 victory.
Stockton will play its final regular season home game on Saturday when the Ospreys host Kean University at 1 p.m.
