CASTINE, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (3-1) toppled Maine Maritime Academy (1-2), 75-55, in a non-conference women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon
THE LEAD
Saint Joseph's led from wire to wire and opened the contest with 12-2 run, as senior centerMorgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) capped the outbreak with a traditional three-point play at the 3:26 mark. The Monks held a 42-18 advantage at halftime and a game-high 29-point cushion (57-28) after junior guard Emily Kehoe (Perkinsville, Vt.) netted a pair of free throws at the 2:03 mark of the third quarter.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S
- Cahill tallied 15 points with six rebounds and three assists
- Freshman guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) was 4-6 from three-point distance en route to scoring 15 points with a pair of steals
- Sophomore point guard Emily Quirion (Augusta, Maine) added 12 points
- Sophomore forward Brianne Maloney (South Portland, Maine) chipped in with seven points, two rebounds and a pair of steals
LEADERS – MAINE MARITIME
- Freshman guard Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) netted a game-high 22 points – 20 in the second half – with four boards in the loss
- Bekah Campbell (Corinth, Maine) added six points off the bench
- Tess Clark (Spring, Texas) added five points and three rebounds
NOTEWORTHY
- The Monks attempted 36 free throws against the Mariners, the most by an SJC team in a single game since St. Joe's recorded 44 freebie attempts against Johnson & Wales University on January 21st, 2013

Saint Joseph's shot 44% (22-50) from the field, 36.4% (8-22) from three-point land and 63.9% (23-36) from the free throw line. Maine Maritime posted a 42.9% (21-49) effort from the floor with a 22.2% (4-18) mark from downtown and a 52.9% (9-17) performance from the charity stripe.
The Monks held advantages in rebounds (29-27), steals (8-4), turnovers (17-24), points off turnovers (23-14) and bench points (23-21) while the Mariners owned a 16-11 edge in assists on the afternoon.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 8-4 in the history of the series with Maine Maritime Academy and has now defeated the Mariners in five-consecutive meetings dating back to the 2010-11 campaign.
Tonight's point total versus Maine Maritime is the most posted by St. Joe's in the 12-game series with the Mariners while the 20-point margin of victory is the third-highest and largest since SJC toppled MMA by a 67-27 tally on February 1st, 2000.

Saint Joseph's plays at Maine-Farmington at 5:30 PM on Monday while the Mariners kick off North Atlantic Conference play with a home contest versus Thomas College on Tuesday, December 1st at 5:30 PM.
The Monks are 39-29 all-time against the Beavers and have defeated UMF in five-straight meetings dating back to the 2010-11 season. St. Joe's cruised past Maine-Farmington last winter, besting the Beavers by a 69-37 margin at home on November 24th.
