CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University fell to Wheelock College 82-34 in New England Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball action tonight at the Nicholas Athletics Center. Wheelock saw three players finish in double-figures, including a game-high 31 from junior Michelle Woods (Wilmington, Mass.), as the Wildcats earned their third straight win to improve to 15-4 overall and 11-2 in NECC matchups. The loss drops the Lynx to 1-17 on the season and 0-13 in the conference.

Woods went 13-of-17 from the field and knocked down and added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals to her line. Freshman Katie Walsh (East Islip, N.Y.) provided a double-double for the guests with 16 points and a game-best 12 rebounds while junior Brianna Hochwarter (Attleboro, Mass.) was the third Wildcat to finish in double-digits, hitting three trey's on her way 13 points. Junior Kayla Corshia (Medway, Mass.) added seven points, five boards, three assists, one block, and one steal for the visitors.

Lesley junior Emily Meade (Derry, N.H.) powered the hosts with eight points and seven boards, both tying season-highs, while sophomore Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) finished with seven points and a pair of assists. Fellow sophomore Courtney Goggin (Cheshire, Conn.) and senior Ari Dimou (Manchester, N.H.) each chipped in with six points and junior Hannah Levensailor (Ayer, Mass.) led the Lynx with five assists to go with six rebounds and two points. Freshman Abby Henderson (Rochester, N.H.) came off the bench to notch five points for the hosts.

The Wildcats led wire-to-wire as they scored the first 11 points of the contest, six of which came off jumpers by Woods. Lynx junior Hannah Levensailor (Ayer, Mass.) would break up the streak when she finished a feed from Pereira with a jump shot from the right side. Woods and Pereira would exchange buckets in the paint before Wheelock went on a 14-0 run capped by a triple from Brianna Hochwarter (Attleboro, Mass.) to stake a 27-6 lead.

Lesley would put an end to the run with a layup from Meade followed by a pair of made free throws from Pereira to cut the deficit to 27-10 before Gabrielle Haywood (East Longmeadow, Mass.) drained a couple of freebies of her own to take a 29-10 advantage after the first quarter.

The Wildcats would continue to run away in the second quarter as back-to-back triples from Hochwarter and junior Emily Doyle (Lynn, Mass.) capped a 15-3 run to open the frame and went into halftime with a 50-17 edge.

Wheelock would lead by as many as 50 in the second half as they cruised to the 82-34 win.

The Wildcats dominated down low and held a 65-40 rebounding edge and outscored the Lynx by a 40-14 margin in the painted area. The visitors also held an advantage in shooting percentage, hitting at a 36% (31-of-85) clip while holding their hosts to just 23% (14-of-60).

Lesley will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they travel to Becker College at 3:00p. Wheelock will be off until Wednesday, February 10 when they kick off a three game homestand as they play host to Mitchell College at 7:30p.
