WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore guard Jackie Rodriguez (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) scored 14 of her game-high 25 points during the first half as the William Paterson women's basketball team (12-8, 8-5 NJAC) pulled away from Rutgers-Camden (11-8, 6-7 NJAC) for a 75-55 victory Feb. 1.

Five straight points off the hot hand of Rodriguez helped WP transform a four-point edge into a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Pioneers extended that advantage to 21 (41-20) on an Alisa Giordano (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) floater in the lane during the final minute of the opening half, and WP carried a 41-22 edge into the break.

William Paterson's lead never dipped below 15 points for the rest of the contest as the Pioneers shot 50.0 (9-18) from three-point range and 51.7 (30-58) percent from the field overall.

Rodriguez knocked down seven of 13 (.538) treys for her 25 tallies. Senior guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) posted 15 points, seven assists and four steals, while senior forward Alex Milne (Howell, N.J./Howell) contributed 11 tallies and seven boards.

Senior guard/forward Kamari Talley led the Scarlet Raptors with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore forward/center Michelle Obasi added 17 tallies.

William Paterson will host Montclair State Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 6:00 p.m.
