Baruch Improves to 8-3 in CUNYAC, Defeat Medgar Evers (77-52)

The women's basketball team defeated the Cougars of Medgar Evans, 77-52, in a CUNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats got off to a quick 8-0 start while the Cougars started cold. The rest of the period was plagued with fouls which ended in the Bearcats leading 16-10.

In the second quarter, the pace of play picked up with both teams scoring more efficiently. The Bearcats outscored Medgar Evans, 23-17, which led to a 39-27 halftime lead.
    

Kristen Podlovits just missed out on a double-double by one assist at halftime posting 12 points and nine assists. Veronica Ganzi had a team high 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 3-of-5 from three.
    
The third quarter was very physical and resulted in both teams getting into the bonus but otherwise was a close quarter. The fourth quarter is where the Bearcats pulled away and finished with a 25 point home victory.

Podlovits lead all scorers with 20, dished out a career-high 17 assists, and just missed a triple double with seven steals.
Shannon Barrett also posted her third double-double of the season with 12 points and a season-high 15 rebounds.
    
Ganzi had another well-rounded game with 19 points and also tallied six assists.
Jacqueline Kennedy came on strong in the fourth quarter after sitting out some of the game with foul trouble, finishing with 18 points in 27 minutes.
    
Danyelle Foster led the Cougars with 19 points and 12 rebounds and her teammate Kimonia Mullings also posted a double-double tallying 12 points and 17 rebounds.
    
The Bearcats will look to push their winning streak to three on Tuesday, February 2, at 6 p.m. when they play John Jay College of Criminal Justice in a CUNYAC conference game.
